Meet the artist…

my CREATIVE Journey!

My name is Annalisa.

I am an artist, and my body of work expresses the love I have for nature and my fascination with the facial expressions of people and animals. In my artwork, I try to capture moments that convey raw passion and emotion in the subject I am painting. My newest work is inspired by my deep love for all wild, exotic and domestic animals.

I am currently accepting commissions for Pet Portraits. You can see some of my latest commissions here.

I am also passionate about expressing the devastating feelings of sadness I have towards the subject of animal cruelty and poaching and exploitation of innocent exotic animals. Expressing these feelings through my artwork is a big part of my who I am. Ignoring this subject is no longer an option for me. I wish humans were not the most destructive animal species on this beautiful planet, affecting climate change and contributing to the endangerment of many of these precious innocent souls has become a normal part of life. The good news is, humans are an intelligent, caring, compassionate species, and change is possible. I believe this with all my heart. I have this calling deep in my bones to paint about this subject and need to find a way to help people remember the importance of ALL beings on this planet. Emotions are not only for people! The emotional similarities between humans and all animals when in times of crisis or abuse are uncanny. They cry, laugh, have fun, they feel confusion and terror. How do I know this? It’s simple, just observe their faces and body language.

In 2021 my goal is to start working on a series dedicated to the Great Apes (GORILLAS)

Here are some of my study drawings and paintings.

I am so grateful and feel very blessed to have this awesome studio space to work in, which is nestled in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by nature in Ontario, Canada.
